It was a Christmas Occasion

Hey Guys! Everyone loves a good party including myself so when my school Christmas dance rolled around I just couldn't help myself but do a blog post on it.

I would like to point out that I am holding a non alcoholic beverage but since me and my friends are all fancy pants we put it in some wine glasses. It is my last year of high school (here in Scotland if you stay on until 6th year you usually leave at the age of 18) so sadly meant it was also my last Christmas dance. Still it was an absolute blast and I had no end of fun the entire night, it also gave me a great reason to get dressed up and what girl doesn't love going out feeling all fancy.

I got my dress out of New Look and I believe it was in the 'apricot' range, and was a bargain at £30 (£27 once I got a cheeky 10% student discount). I was reasonably brave with my dress choice as it is a fairly clingy wee number and being a teenage girl we are all a little insecure when it comes to our figures but this dress did wonders for me and I really felt confident wearing it.
You cant see my shoes in any of the photos but they were just black suede 4 inch heels with an ankle strap and a small gold buckle, very simple and elegant. They cost me £15 out of Dorothy Perkins in a sale a couple months back.
On to make up I went very dramatic on the eyes, the camera washes it out slightly but I had a bronzy gold smokey eye with a cut crease look and lots of lashes! I love a bold eye look! So to balance it out I went for a nude lip and a fairly low key base.

Winterlicious TAG

Hey Guys! So its that wonderful time of the year again, CHRISTMAS TIME. As you can all probably tell I'm just the tiniest bit excited for the wonderful Christmas season and have lots of lovely blog posts coming up to help us all get in the Christmas mood. Now if you don't celebrate Christmas then I apologies now that my blog will be taken over by the Christmas spirit for the next month.
To get us started is the winterlicious TAG, I know I know that technically it has been winter for the last month and a bit but to me it doesn't feel fully out of Autumn until the advent calendars are broken out!

1) Favourite Winter Nail Varnish?
Well at the moment I am in love with anything in the shade berry! And it just so happened that Topshop have a range of matte nail colours, yes beauties matte, which I am totally in love with. I have the shade 'Bad Orchid' (love the name!) and it is a very deep winey berry shade.

2) Favourite Winter Lip Product?
Well that would have to be my 'Burts Bees Mango Lip balm' my lips would be a dry flaky mess without that life saves of a product. Ohhh and it tastes really good too! On a side note the 'Lush Lip Scrub' is also a saviour at this time of year!

3) Most Worn Winter Clothing Piece?
Well that would have to be my good old brown boots. I am very much a boot person, at really anytime of the year but especially during the winter months and my favourite pair at the moment are just plain old brown leather with a pretty sturdy sole. I got them for £17 at TK Maxx (RRP £40ish) and I think they were actually meant to be mens boots but hey with super skinny jeans they just look edgy.

4) Most Worn Winter Accessory?
I'm not really one for accessorising but I have been really liking rings at the moment: Forever21, Newlook, Topshop and even Primark have some lovely rings in at the moment for really good prices.

5) Favourite Winter Sent/Candle?
I love love love love the Yankee candle in the sent Macintosh Spice! It is like the perfect balance between sweet apple and spicy cinnamon!

6) Favourite Winter Beverage?
I'm not really one for hot drinks but I guess Mulled Wine would count for this (non alcoholic of course). But my Starbucks order never changes all year round, it will always be 'A soya, coffee frapachino with hazelnut syrup and no whip'.

7) All Time Favourite Christmas Movie?
ELF!!!!! and if you disagree sorry but you're wrong nothing can beat watching buddy the elf and his shenanigans!

8) Favourite Christmas Song?
'Fairytale of New York' by The Pogues Feat. Kristy MacCol. It's actually what I have playing in the background while writing this post, but who doesn't love a song that has "You scumbag, you maggot" in the lyrics? Ahhhh Christmas time.

9) Favourite Holiday Food/Treat?
Roast Potatoes! I know not exactly seasonal... really but its something my mum makes from scratch at Christmas time and there is no better taste that hot roast potatoes cooked in goose fat (sorry to any vegetarians out there).

10) Favourite Christmas Decoration?
We have a little wooden nativity scene which I love at Christmas, although we keep it out all year long it is extra special during this season.

11) What's at the Top of your Christmas List?
Belive it or not, I haven't really thought about a Christmas list. I'm much more about buying other people presents that they will love rather than asking for them for myself. But a few things I would rather like include some more 'Daisy' perfume and maybe a couple 'Sigma' brushes.

12) What are your Plans for the Holidays this Year?
With the family! How I spend it every year, but I also look forward to the Christmas parties & nights out, going to Christmas markets with friends, wrapping presents and every other tradition I can think of!

Taken off of Google.

Keep your eye out for other Christmas posts that will be heading your way!

When Brothers Try to Cheer You Up

Hey Guys! Quick little post today just to share with you something my brother said to me which I thought you would all get a giggle out of. We all hate that saying "There plenty more fish in the sea" so my brother's take on this old saying was to make it slightly inappropriate. Still I had a good giggle and managed to see the funny side of a bad situation.

My Travel Makeup Bag

Hey Guys! Diving on in today with a "whats in my travel makeup bag" post. Now I bet you're all wondering why do this post today of all days? Well even if you weren't you're going to find out! I'm taking a wee trip down to London with some class mates (only 8 of us) for 4 days and I'm so excited that even typing this is making me slightly hyper. Now hopefully I shall have some other London related posts but we all know whenever I say these things they never happen. Anyways here you go guys, what I take makeup wise on a trip.

I absolutely love this makeup bag its doesn't look that big but you can fit so much beauty junk in it, plus it was a complete bargain at £3 from Primark.

This is all the base makeup that I take with me, just 5 products which I don't think is that much (typical blogger attitude right lol). For foundation I take my Revlon Color Stay as it is great for any occasion whether its day wear or for a more full coverage evening wear. Again my Collection concealer has the same benefits so I also take that. The sleek contour kit and my Nars blusher also work together well and are quite diverse so look good in the evening or during the day. And lastly I take my favourite powder at the moment which is by soap and glory, you guys should see how badly I have hit pan on this beauty!

So eyes and eyebrows can basically be covered in one product which is the Naked 2 pallet, this thing is like to amazing for words its is absolute perfection! Sorry for the fan girl moment there but anyone who owns this will understand what I mean. And then I just have a cheap MUA clear mascara which isn't very clear anymore, its quite gross really, and a MAC paint pot which I use as an eye primer.

Lastly I have a Kate Moss lipstick by Rimmel in a darkish colour to wear in the evenings and to go along with that my favourite lip balm which is the mango one from Burt's Bees as well as the bubble gum lip scrub from Lush. The mascara I'm loving at the moment is doll'd up by Seventeen at Boots and I really do like this mascara it reminds me which a lot of the clump defy mascara by max factor (clump crusher by covergirl) but is like half the price. I also will take with my a good long wearing black eyeliner in this case 24/7 by Urban Decay and some eyelash curlers I'm not too fussy but the ones I currently have are just the Boots branded ones.

Need I Say More

Hey Guys! This honestly isn't a lazy post I promise. Anyways I was just scrolling through my newsfeed on Facebook and saw someone had liked this picture on Instagram, and I have to say I just love this. So hope you guys take some "inspiration" from it and I think it speaks enough for itself without me having to ramble on about it.

Inspirational Monday Post

I had this idea to start making up little "inspirational" posts that I could do every Monday for the foreseeable future about maybe something I personally have experience on and can give my personal opinion on.
This is a picture that I took one night when I decided to nip down to the beach on a whim and I still remember the churning feeling I got when I started to walk down the pier. I feel that a lot of times in life we can start to get like this.
Let me explain. There was no clear gain for me when I began to walk down the pier to be honest it just made my legs feel like jelly but as I got further down the pier I realised I would be able to get a really nice photo from it. Life can also be like this sometimes you feel you are getting no where with something but then realise that actually there is a purpose to it all and what originally started out looking like a dead end was really quite far from it.

Glitter Nails

Hey Guys so today I was really itching to go get my nails done but since I am visiting my brother I didn't really know any nail salons or prices. This meant I decided to hit Superdrug and see what I could find.

I love the glitter nail look which is in at the moment so when I spotted these nails I just could  not resist! They are the "Elegant Touch Glitter Twinkle Twinkle" in short and gold. They were also fairly cheap at £7.10 for 24 nails which is two separate applications and when you think of how much they would be at the salon it could come in at about £28+.

As you can see the nails also have red flecks in them which I think just adds to the overall beauty of the nails. the application was fast and easy, they feel comfortable on the nails. The only complaint I really have is I wish they came with actual nail glue rather than the sticky back tabs as I don't feel that they will keep the nails on for more than a few days at a time.

First Impression: Maybelline Color Tattoo 24h

Hey Guys! Today I bring you a first impressions post... again. I really hope I'm not boring you guys with these posts. Anyways I know I'm a bit behind the times and have only just jumped on the "colour tattoo band wagon" but at least I got there eventually right?

I can't get over how adorable that packaging is!

I thought I would be a bit more adventurous with my colour choice than I usually am and as much as I wanted to pick up 'on and on bronze' I decided that I would buy 'Metallic Pomegranate' and make this colour work for me.

The cute name

Because these have been out for a while I'm sure will have heard a million times how cute the packaging is and how well they blend out but I will verify it one more time they are pretty awesome. What I love most about these bad boys is that they can go on in a very sheer wash of colour or can be quite bold and make an impact. And I like having that choice.

Beautiful colour isn't it?

On to the colour well I think we can all agree its fabulous! It is a very vampy fall colour and I love it. It's a nice change to move away from the common neutrals and try something a bit more daring as well as it being very complementary on blue eyes. All in all I would say a successful purchase. What do you guys think?

The Perfect Nude Lip feat. MAC "Hue" Lipstick

Hey Guys! So we all know I love those natural, earthy colours when it comes to makeup so it will be no surprise to you all that more often than not I am rocking a nude lip. To me the beauty of a nude coloured lip is that it goes with anything from the most intense smokey eye look to the barely there look and for me it is one of the most classic looks going.

So I thought today I would share with you all how I get my perfect nude lip. Of course these products wont work for everyone because not everyone has the same colour of eyes or the same under tones to their skin but never the less I think this will be helpful to a lot of people.
The products I use are

Mac Lipstick In "Hue" £15

It is a glaze finish which means it is slightly sheerer than other Mac formulas but is still incredibly pigmented. It is an absolutely gorgeous colour and I think it is definitely worth the investment. It goes on extremely well and I find I don't even need to use a mirror when applying which is always a bonus especially when you are in a rush. The only slight down side I would say is the longevity of it as it could be better however this is only a minor annoyance and as it's so fantastic in every other way I don't mind having to apply it every 3 hours or so.

Max Factor Color Elixir lip liner in "Pink Petal" £4.99
The lip liner I use when doing a nude lip is by Max Factor and it's a really good lip liner in my opinion. It's waxy enough that it stays put for hours (no reapplying this in the bathroom) but is still creamy enough to be comfortable enough to wear everyday all day.
And that's it! I don't personally put a gloss over the top because I don't think an overly glossy lip looks good on me. There are also amazing drugstore nude lipsticks but these are the products I would use for my "Perfect" nude lip. Hope you enjoyed the post!

I purchased all the products mentioned above with my own money and all opinions are my own, as always.

My No.1 Spot Treatment and GIVEAWAY WINNER!

Hey Guys! So yes it has been 2 weeks and yes I am a terrible blogger but I hope you will all forgive me (again lol) so the winner of my 50 follower giveaway is This Girly Geek so well done! If you get in contact with me via email (or post your email address in the comments/ reply to the comment I posted to your blog) which you will find under the contacts tab we will be able to arrange me sending your prizes to you.

On a separate note I thought I would bring you guys a post on my all time favourite spot treatment!

The witch blemish gel is absolutely amazing! I'm sure many of you will have heard of the blemish stick from witch something that has had many rave reviews on various blogs as well as youtube. I have to say however this is much much better! First of you get more product which is always a bonus as its better value for money.
Secondly I feel that it is 100% more hygienic! The stick meant that you used it have to either rub it directly on a spot or get in a right old mess trying to apply it with hands. Yet with this you just squeeze out the amount needed and apply where it is needed.
It works practically over night for me and in most instances the spot is entirely gone in about 3 days (as long as I don't mess with it e.g. try to pick at it ewww I know).
At less than £4 it is an absolute steel and will last you for aggggges! I honestly cannot praise this product enough!
Anyways I hope you are all well and shall post again soon!

CLOSED *GIVEAWAY* REACHING 50 FOLLOWERS

Hey Guys! You have no idea how excited I am to be able to write this blog post! I hit 50 followers which for me is insane! I truly never thought anyone would really be that interested in my blog and the fact that over 50 of you are just makes me so so so happy. I remember starting my little blog back in April and reading other peoples blog who have 15, 20, 30, 40 followers and hoping that maybe people would like my blog enough that they might follow it!
As a thank you to each and every one of you I decided to pick up a few little bits of makeup so that I could do a giveaway (again something I never thought I'd have enough followers to do). I thought that since September is only a week away and Autumn is my favourite season I would do an "Autumn Essentials Giveaway"

So some of my favourite make up looks in Autumn include: bonze eye make up, dark lipstick and highlighting.

The first thing the winner will receive is a highlighter. I would say that "high lights" by technic is a dupe for Benefits "high beam". It is a pink toned liquid highlight that I often reach for, especially during the colder months when my skin might be looking a bit dull.

Next thing the winner will receive is one of the "Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipsticks" from the matte range in "107" which is a beautiful dark red lipstick with pink undertones. I bought this for myself last Autumn after months of searching high and low for the perfect "Fall Lipstick". I also believe that Zoella loves this shade and the whole Kate Moss collection.

Lastly the winner will win one of the "17 Wild Metallics Eyes" in "Wild Nude" which I wrote about a couple blog posts back as part of a haul post. Again it's just a lovely cream eye shadow for the colder months and I personally enjoy using it under powder eye shadows to give a more intense shadow look.

The only slight down side to this giveaway is that it is UK ONLY however in the future I could hopefully have an international one. So all you have to do to enter is to be a follower of my blog and to comment bellow what your autumn essential makeup is. The giveaway will close on Sunday the 8th of September  when I will then put all the names in a hat. The winner will then be picked and I will message them, the winner will have 48 hours to respond before another winner is then picked.

So I wish everyone good luck and I just want so say thank you again for making my blogging experience so far absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!

End of Summer Nails

Hey Guys! Its been ages since I've posted which is terrible (sorry!). However I thought you guys might enjoy another "manicure" post. A while back I got this little set of nail polish and nail beads (is that what you call them) as a freebie in a magazine and up until today I had only used the nail varnish but with it coming to the end of summer I thought "hey why not! lets give this a try".

It was fairly easy to achieve this nail look as I painted all my nails with the nail varnish, which I believe to be called 'Cookies and Cream'. I absolutely adore this colour its like a mauve nude colour which I personally think is beautiful. Anyways it took about 3 coats to get an opaque colour which isn't too great however its saving grace is that it takes no time what so ever to dry.

Next, on my ring finger, while the nail varnish was still fairly wet I shook some of the beads onto the wet nail varnish. The beads should then stick to the polish and stay in place. I did find the best way to ensure they didn't budge was to paint another layer of polish over the beads (using a clear one would be best) and then give the nails a good 15 or so minutes to dry completely.
So there you have it fancy looking nails fit for any season! To finish this post with a bit of good news, I have a give away coming up in the next couple of weeks. It wont be a massive one but I feel that since managing to get to 50 followers (YAY! and thankyou) that you guys deserved it so stay tuned for that!

Au Natural Baby

Hey Guys! Yes I have been on a bit of a shopping rampage recently but in my defence it had been a long time since I had a good wee nosy round Boots to see what I liked the look of. As you can probably guess from the title the 3 things I bought are quite neutral/natural so very school/work appropriate.

First thing is the Seventeen Wild Metallic Eyes in ‘Wild Nude’ now I would have to disagree slightly it’s not nude however it is a beautiful bronze colour with pinkish undertones which I think is absolutely gorgeous! A lot of people have compared these to the Maybelline 24h colour tattoos but again I would disagree as after swatching both in store I would say the Seventeen one feels a lot creamier. I think that this will be great for when school starts back after the summer as I love wearing eye shadow on a daily basis but never seem to find the time in the morning. I also think this would be a great eye shadow base and at £3.99 you can really argue with it!

Next thing I picked up was the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in the shade ‘Nude’ I had been eyeing this up for a very long time but had never gotten round to buying it. I’m a big fan of white eyeliner on the water line I just feel that it make you look alive and alert while making your eyes look bigger however white can sometimes look a bit harsh for everyday purposes so a nude colour seems to be the better pick. This cost me £3.99 which again I thought was a bargain as it has a nice consistency and really glides on!

And lastly I picked up another BarryM nail paint in ‘Matt White’ this product does what it says, it’s a very nice matte white colour that builds up to an opaque colour in about 2 coats (3 if you paint really thin coats). This could be used to sport the ‘white nail’ trend or to be used to put French tips on a classic manicure.

So these are some of the little treasures I found while having a look around boots. Have you guys got any new found beauty bargains? If so please comment and tell me what they are I love trying new products especially if they are a purse friendly treat!

First Impressions: Eyeko 'Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner'

Hey Guys! Me again only this time something a bit different. I've never done a first impressions post before so I thought why not give it a go so I shall cut the babbling and get to the point.
I was having a bit of a nosey in my local supermarket when I spotted glamour magazine now I have to say I'm a bit more of an ELLE girl but when I saw what the free gift was I just had to buy it (that's me a sucker for free gifts). I'd heard quite a bit of hype over the eyeko products via youtube an so forth and I thought for £3.80 (price of the magazine) I might as well see what all the fuss was about.
It is in a pen form which is pretty handy as it means if your in a rush you don't need to waste time re-dipping into the bottle (not that I ever do liquid liner in a rush I am no where near that skilled).
It also is extremely fine which I love! All too often the tip is way to thick and I'm left with an extremely thick line which makes me look quite 'bold' when I was more going for 'understated' and 'classic'.
It is a very pigmented and intense black which is great as you don't have to keep going over and over a line to make it stand out. It also went on quite smoothly without dragging the skin too much.

The liner applied (with flash)

The liner applied (without flash)
As you can see I don't have the 'ideal' eye shape to wear liquid liner however I do feel this liner does help make it a little more feasible for me to sport the cat eyed flick.

Pros
Very fine tip so you can get an accurate and neat flick
Goes on fairly smoothly
Does seem to be holding up well even when my eyes have been watering
Doesn't break the bank (I believe it retails at £8 which isn't much more than say L'Oreal)

Cons
It can feel slightly 'sticky' and 'stiff' when on the eyes
The lid that you have to pull off actually made the pen tip come off which wasn't great (and messy)

So overall not a bad first impression! I will definitely reach for this product next time I want a winged eye look.

Collective Haul: New look, Primark, Boots & Bodycare

Hey Guys! Me again, after not posting for so long I felt like I had to make it up to my blog (hope you all aren't getting sick of me). Today I went on a little shopping trip with my Mum which I actually really enjoyed (not that I don't normally but we were looking for bits of school uniform too which can sometimes lead to arguments over whether that school skirt is really too short!). So we picked up a couple bits and pieces for me which I actually needed (and some I didn't but hey ho that's the beauty of shopping). I can remember the exact order that we went to the shops in but I shall start with new look.
I originally went into new look hoping to find another pair of jeans because I absolutely adore the 'super soft' skinny jeans they sell however I couldn't find any in my size which was a bit of a shame but not all was lost as I then found these little beauties!
I actually found these in the generation 915 section which is their 'kids' section but I think they do up to a size 7 so most would be able to find their size there. I have a pair of ankle boots similar already from new look but the sole has worn down so much it is at major risk of coming away all together. These were on £17.99 (even less with student discount) which I think is a bargain as I've seen similar in paces like topshop for over £30!
Next stop was Primark which I love to pieces and I actually managed to pick up a fair few things there for next to nothing. Again I bought some shoes!
These are so incredibly soft and comfortable it is unreal! So I actually bought a second pair in another colour (bad bad bad I know).
I had been in Clarks earlier and was about to spend £14.99 on a pair of shoes identical to the other two pairs I bought, only these ones were in mint. All I can say is I am so glad they didn't have my size! Because both pairs of the gorgeous shoes out of Primark only cost £4 each!
After my awesome shoe find I went off to see if I could find some PJ bottoms as its been so warm here wearing fleecy ones hasn't really been practical.
I found these beautifully patterned PJ bottoms which I was most impressed with. Both pairs are light and will keep me cool which is a must in this summer heat.
These ones were only £5 which I was pretty impressed with.
And then I saw these ones which were £2 yes guys you read right £2 I could not believe it!
Next was boots where I got some 'Soap and Glory' mini products which are just adorable and pretty cheap as they were on a 3 for 2 offer which meant they didn't break the bank at all 3 for £5! I love soap and glory (you can read my review-ish thing about peaches and clean HERE) and I think when traveling there is nothing better than so cute mini products.

And finally from Bodycare I got some small bottles of shampoo & conditioner (250ml but the packaging was compact) and they were 99p each. Now I actually had to hunt high and low for small bottles of shampoo and conditioner because I didn't want minis (they were too small) but I didn't want massive big bottles taking up tonnes of room in my suitcase. And a travel sized batiste (the tropical one smells amazing!) which was £1.59 I think. So all in all I felt it was a pretty successful shopping trip. I actually picked up a few other bits and pieces but I'm saving them to show you at a later date for a special reason.
I hope to carry on posting this regularly so Catchya Later DaisyAndMints x
